Welcome to Rusk Reads. Every Friday I will post three long article recommendations. These pieces will be relevant, rich, and make you think.

Gabe Rusk received his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Religion from the University of Denver while on debate scholarship. While at DU he was selected as the only student from the university to spend an academic year at the University of Oxford where he received honors in Philosophy and Religion courses.

Gabe returned to the University of Oxford to complete his Masters in the Study of Religion. He graduated in 2016 writing his dissertation on the history of the First Amendment and pluralism in the United States. Gabe was also elected as the LGBTIA+ Officer for the world's oldest uni debate society the Oxford Union, and was elected as the international students officer representing over 7,000 students during his time at Oxford. Mr. Rusk was also selected as one of only a dozen coaches to be on the National Speech & Debate Association Topic Committee. During high school, Gabe was a PF competitor himself winning the most prestigious national Tournament of Champions in 2010. In 2014 he took 4th place at the national British Parli University competition. At Oxford, he was offered a place on the competitive traveling team, won best floor speech at the Oxford Debate Union, and spearheaded the Religion Debate.

Gabe's current research focuses on freedom of the press and protecting journalism in an open society.
